Remus is an average young man, though he is quite skinny, as each month he burns more calories than most of the other kids his age. Luckily, he hasn’t scratched too many scars into himself, and those he has are usually easily hidden underneath his clothes. He has a particularly deep scar on his back which he received when he was four years old, from a dear old friend named Fenrir Greyback. Lately it’s been getting worse and instead of small scars, they’ve seemed to grow in number and size. It won’t be long until he can’t hide them anymore, especially if he gets one on his face or in almost any visible areas. His light brown hair is actually quite kempt with a good straight, formal look to it, most of the time. Sometimes it messes up and looks almost as unkempt as Prongs’ hair.

Moony is a very smart and quiet young man, who usually tries to distance himself from others. With most people he is quiet and doesn’t poke his nose in their business unless it’s something serious. He gets his work done, and then he spends his time either alone or with the three Marauders. The only reason he actually has three great friends like them is because they kept insisting to become his friend, not because Remus had met them, liked them, and begged them to join their group, no that wasn’t his style. Moony is deathly afraid of hurting those around him because of his condition, and always is overcautious, especially around the time of his transformation. All his life Moony had lived with those who didn’t accept him, and were deathly afraid of him, so when the Marauders accepted him, it was a totally unique situation. He actually had friends who didn’t discriminate against him, and from that, Remus began hating those who hated him for what he was (though not many actually know, they usually just think he has a very fragile mother who gets deathly ill several times during the year).
However, he hears sometimes those who discriminate against half-breeds and muggleborns, and he feels like it is a shot towards him, because while they don’t know it, it really is a shot towards him. Discrimination is one of the only things he feels quite strongly about, and voices his opinion about it a lot, at least a lot for him, seeing as he usually is a quiet boy. Moony does like to hang out with the Marauders and pull the pranks, but he won’t admit it, because then he wouldn’t hear the end of it, especially from Padfoot and Prongs. And of course it would go against the image he had, and might embarrass him in the future, as well as the fact that he doesn’t approve of several of the Marauder pranks, especially towards Snape, but he won’t speak out about it, fearing that his friends would leave him if he would.
»»Powers: Werewolf – He turns into a wolf every full moon, and hides in the shrieking shack beforehand as not to hurt anyone. Sometimes he comes out of it with a fresh new wound that will add to his scar collection.
»»Weaknesses: He is terrible at Divination and Transfiguaration, though he still tries his best, though now he has dropped Divination as his career plan did not need it.
»»Family: John Romulus Lupin (42, Gryffindor Alumni, Previous Auror, Recently Deceased), Sophie Lupin (37, Hufflepuff Alumni, Healer at St. Mungo’s)
»»Other Important People: Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs
»»Pets: People Assume he has a bunny sometimes, but none otherwise
»»History:
Remus was born to the two most loving parents a boy could ask for, witch and wizard (Half-Blood Father, Half-Blood Mother, making him a Half-Blood). His father was an Auror, even though he wasn’t the greatest one in the world, and his mother was a healer. As a young boy he really looked up to his two parents. When he was 4 years old, his father had captured a werewolf and put him into Azkaban. He came home and told his family and Sophie was quite happy that another dangerous person was put into jail. This capture of a werewolf did not sit well with Greyback, especially since the werewolf had only been framed for the actions he was arrested over… sure Greyback was the one who framed his own right hand man, but it made Greyback furious. The next full moon had come, and Greyback positioned himself near the Lupin residence. Little Remus was sleeping soundly until he heard his father yell, which woke up the young boy. Remus hurried to where his father was, who was fighting off the large werewolf Greyback. Remus distracted his father with his appearance and Greyback took advantage of it, hitting John to the side. Remus stared at the werewolf, who then lunged towards him. Remus barely dodged and began running. He didn’t get very far when he was scratched along his back, and down his whole back, and soon was bitten by the sharp fangs of the werewolf and almost killed from the werewolf tearing into him. That was when John had come forcing Greyback off to the point where Greyback ran off hurt but not before turning and growling at John. Remus’ father called his wife to help with their boy. Once Remus was safely in their house once more, Sophie looked at Remus, healing what she could, though it was cursed wounds so she couldn’t do much. At this point Remus was passed out, and they were afraid he was going to die. The next morning Remus awoke, hurt everywhere, and couldn’t move due to as spell his mother cast on him. His parents were happy that Remus was at least conscious once more, but were afraid that he would turn into a werewolf the next month. And they were right. Remus had become a werewolf and had survived.
It wasn’t long after that when John Lupin quit his job at the ministry, staying home with their werewolf child. However, that wasn’t the best choice for Remus’ attitude, because John always talked about how Remus could never get married or get into a relationship, and how he would never have friends and never go to school because he was too dangerous. No matter how much Remus’ mother yelled at him and told Remus that it wasn’t true, after a while, he got used to the fact he couldn’t be a normal kid. That is, until Remus’ 11th birthday when Dumbledore arrived at his house. Remus wasn’t allowed in the meeting they were having, but listened at the door. Dumbledore said that Remus could go to Hogwarts and learn, and every full moon he would have to go in this secret passaged under a newly planted whomping willow and transform in the safe house there. Remus’ mother was happy for this plan, but his father was against it, saying that Remus was too dangerous, and that he wouldn’t allow Remus to endanger so many other kids. After a few hours of fighting between his parents, John finally agreed, but said that he wasn’t at blame if his son harmed any of the students. Later his mother explained how Remus had to keep his condition a secret at all costs.
Remus began attending Hogwarts that year. On the train over to the school, two other boys had joined him in his compartment. They introduced themselves as Sirius Black and James Potter, who told Remus how the two of them clicked when they met before boarding the Hogwarts Express. Remus stayed silent and listened carefully. Remus simply introduced himself, and if asked a question he answered them simply and avoiding the question of if there was anything interesting about him, like talking to snakes or changing his appearance, because truthfully he would have to answer with this secret. Another boy entered the compartment just before the train left, introducing him as Peter Pettigrew, asking if they wouldn’t mind if he joined them. Remus didn’t mind and neither did the other two boys. When asked which house Remus guessed he would be in, or wanted to be in, Remus replied that he wasn’t sure, but thought that either Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Gryffindor would be fine, especially since he heard that most of the Slytherins were mean, at least in the stories of his parents’ childhood.
Remus was sorted into Gryffindor of course, with the three boys he sat with on the train. While Remus was extremely stand-off-ish he couldn’t help but like the three boys. They became pretty good friends, though Remus was by far the most distant of the four boys. Remus managed to keep his condition a secret for almost two years before the three boys found out, since Remus was gone every month to a sick relative, usually his mother or grandmother. It was the Christmas during their second year at Hogwarts, when James, Sirius, and Peter came over to his house to find Remus, seeing as he never seemed to answer their letters for him to visit them, mostly because Remus’ father would be angry if he found out he would be going to a friend’s house. Remus and the three other boys were playing in his room, while Remus knew he would get a talking to later from his father about it, when Peter let slip a joke about a werewolf, witch, and a vampire going to a bar. Remus took it very offensively, and avoided telling why. James and Sirius began putting the pieces together, while Peter seemed to be clueless. By the end of the day, James asked Remus if he was a werewolf, and at first he denied it, until he finally broke down and told the truth. Instead of being rejected like his father had told him he would, James, Sirius and Peter seemed to think that it was cool, though it was revealed that Peter had guessed it after about 6 months, but never said anything about it. They asked him a few questions about it, until finally they had to leave for home.
At the start of school after the Christmas Break, James and Sirius came up with the idea that the three of them, Peter, James and Sirius, would become Animagus so they could be Remus when he transformed. Remus objected, but they seemed to ignore his objection and began training to transform. It took them around a year to get any change in appearance. Peter was the first one to show some sign of what he would be when he sprouted whiskers in their third year. Then it was Sirius, who grew quite furry in his face, and James was the last, but the largest change when he sprouted antlers. As the next year passed, now the boys entering their fourth year, their changes became more dramatic, Peter shrinking and sprouting a tail, Sirius gaining dog feet and shrinking, while James’ face became oddly shaped like a stag’s face and James seemed to grow as well. It was that year that James started making bets on what they would become. Remus couldn’t help but be happy that he had found probably the only three people in the world who would go to such lengths for him, even if he still objected to it. The next year, the three friends finally completely transformed into their individual animals. It was then that James came up the name for the four them, the Marauders, and the four of them decided on nicknames. This made Remus forever known as Moony, Sirius as Padfoot, Peter as Wormtail, and James as Prongs.
The first full moon after that wasn’t pretty. Remus argued that they couldn’t come, but they argued they did all that work to become Animagus just so they could be with him and support him when his ‘time of the month’ came around. Remus ran out of time to argue and hurried to the Shrieking Shack, and at first he thought that they weren’t following, but a few minutes into his transformation his three friends came in. Remus didn’t know what happened next, waking the next morning with his three friends with him, helping him out. Towards the end of that year, their 5th year, Sirius gave Snape the directions on how to get past the whomping willow, which Snape followed to find Remus’ ‘furry little problem’. Luckily before Remus killed or even touched Snape, James pushed Snape away, at great personal risk, making sure that Snape survived, then following Snape into the castle explaining Remus’ problem and how the headmaster knew and how Snape needed to keep it a secret. Remus woke the next day with the terrible feeling that he almost killed one of them, then noticing James missing. Instantly he thought he attacked James, but Peter and Sirius explained what happened. James had gone to Dumbledore and explained the situation, and Dumbledore convinced Snape to not reveal the secret.
Which leads one to Remus’ 6th year, which he is about to begin. While he feels a huge growing amount of guilt towards Severus Snape, he still stands back when his friends pick on him, but occasionally speaks up on it, which usually leads to Snape saying he doesn’t need his pity or something similar. Over the summer he spent most of his time at James’ place, where Sirius was staying now, and Peter visiting every once and while. It was almost like Remus was living at James’ place, mostly because his father keeps telling him about how he can’t have friends and how he needs to distance himself from them or risk killing them. Then his parents would get in a fight about how John needed to stop filling their son’s heads with those thoughts, and how his father would argue back that Sophie needed to be more cautious about how their son could kill everyone at Hogwarts, or get killed himself. The fight would go on for what seemed forever. It wasn’t until towards the end of summer than Remus stayed most of his time at his house, because his father soon fell deathly ill with an incurable disease that would most likely mean his father’s death soon. Remus, while his father always taught him to stay away from everyone thus making Remus not as close to him as he was with his mother, was extremely worried and sad to see his father in such a condition. John Lupin died the day that Remus was to go to school, causing Remus to almost be late for the train because he was grieving with his mother. Sophie insisted that Remus go to school, come home the next weekend for his father’s funeral, and then go back. She insisted that she’d be ok and that Remus needed to do his best at school and make the best life for him as he could. Remus is keeping his father’s death a secret from the Marauders, because he doesn’t want them to feel sorry for him, and bring their moods down.
