• i know that things can really get rough when you go it alone •
»»Full Name:
James Ignotus Potter.
”I know right, what sort of stupid name is Ignotus? Apparently it’s a family tradition…don’t tell Padfoot what it is.”
»»Nicknames:
Prongs, Potter, Big Head…
”Potter is pretty obvious. Prongs goes with the whole ‘I can turn into a stag’ thing. Then there’s various unsavoury terms that I’ve been called in the past – big head is pretty tame compared to some of them.”
»»Birthday:
27th March.
»»Gender:
Male.
»»Sexual Orientation:
Straight.
”It would probably be more apt to describe me as Evans-sexual.”
»»Occupation:
Gryffindor Student.
”Did you really think there was any other house for me?”
»»Eye Color:
Grey blue.
»»Hair Color:
Dark Brown/Black.
»»Height:
About six foot.
»»Weight:
180 pounds.
»»Overall Appearance:
James has dark brown almost black hair, which is always messy. He tends to make this worse by mussing up his hair as he thinks girls like the look of a guy who looks like he just got off of his broom. His mum has been known to try and charm his hair to stay flat to no avail, and she just gives up – still forcing him to have regular hair cuts to try and keep his mane under control. Along with the hair on his head, James has a little hair on his face, he keeps his stubble to a minimum whilst he’s at school, but one summer he and Sirius had a moustache growing competition, where both tried to grow a handlebar moustache – Sirius win, and James is definitely frustrated that he doesn’t seem to be able to grow all that much hair there…non magically of course.
He has stormy grey blue eyes, framed behind black rimmed glasses that he needs to wear the majority of the time to see. James has needed glasses as long as he can remember, and it seems to be genetically linked since his father wears them to. As a young boy he was the brunt of jokes due to them (“Four eyes” and other oh so imaginative nicknames), until he knocked a kid out. His skin tone is pretty pale, but he tans a little in the sun – these things don’t really concern him a big deal.
James has an athletic body type from all the quidditch he plays. He’s reasonably tall, standing at around six foot, and he’s toned and muscular. James’ fashion sense is nothing too serious – he wears robes at school, and at weekends it’s usually jeans and a t shirt or plaid shirt. He tends to want to look decent, and vaguely presentable, but there’s no way you’ll catch him in anything remotely smart – he had to wear dress robes once, and he tried dying them pink to get out of it…it didn’t work. As for scars and tattoos, James has no tattoos, but he has a scar on his right arm where he and Sirius were messing about one time, doing a prank, and some how everything went completely wrong, and James ended up with a chunk of the wooden door sticking out of his arm.
”Basically what that tells you is that I’m hot. You don’t need to know anything else.”
»»Likes:
James Potter is well known in Hogwarts, it’s always been that way since he is a very loud young man. James is extremely confident of himself, unafraid to stand up for what he believes in, and definitely unafraid to say what’s on his mind – exactly what is on his mind sometimes, and it’s not usually an unassuming comment, usually what James has to say is something that ends with a half dozen hexes and jinxes being sent his way. The natural confidence that James oozes can make him very charming, especially with the ladies, and James has used his charm to his advantage at least a couple of times to get out of doing things he doesn’t want to do. He even tries to pull a fast one on teachers at times, but one professor he definitely cannot get away with his tricks on is McGonagall; she sees right through James. With his brash, blunt nature comes over confidence – James is definitely cocky, he knows he’s well liked, he knows he’s popular, he knows he’s attractive, and he doesn’t keep quiet about it. This doesn’t necessarily go down well with everyone, and James has definitely been seen to be arrogant about his abilities, even going so far as to pick on those who aren’t as talented, attractive or well liked as he is. James can be cruel for the sake of his popularity, and will often listen when he’s being egged on, and go too far with his tricks.
The sixteen year old is naturally a fairly clever guy. Ever since first year, James has gotten decent marks in his classes, but not perfect marks. He could do better, that is definitely sure, but James is lazy. He is the sort of guy who can get by, passing things without too much added effort. If he put a small bit of effort in he could probably be brilliant, be near the top of the classes, but James is inherently lazy, and just not bothered by it. So long as he does alright, so long as he passes, James is happy with his lot in school. Being top, getting perfect grades has never been something that matters to him, he’d much rather have fun at school. James ignores the teachers requests that he try harder, or do a little more work, and simply does the bare minimum so he can get by – leaving himself with more free time to do as he wishes. He’s pretty damn lucky that he has some natural ability, or else he’d be failing everything.
TRUSTWORTHY LOYAL GOOD FRIEND FUN LOVING PRANKSTER EASY GOING
»»Powers:
No real ‘powers’ as such, but James has a natural ability for magic – he’s always found it pretty easy to pick up spells, especially in Transfiguration which is probably his best subject.
”Well of course I’m damn good at Transfiguration, I became an animagus just last year – I can turn into a stag…Prongs…get it?”
»»Weaknesses:
James is terrible at Potions; he’s always found it dull and uninteresting compared to more hands on practical magic like Transfiguration or Defence Against the Dark Arts. He just doesn’t see any point in it.
”Hey! Who told you I was crap at potions? I’ll get them. I, uh, I suppose they could be slightly right…there’s a sliver of truth in it. Who needs potions anyway?”
»»Family:
Charlus Ignotus Potter, 55, works at the ministry.
”Told you it was a family name, don’t see why I can’t have something normal sounding though. I’ve got no idea what dad does, some stuffy old ministry job that pays well.”
Dorea Eve Potter, 53, stay at home housewife.
”Mum’s always around, she likes to clean and cook even though we already have house elves to do that for us…I think they’re getting annoyed with her following them around the house.”
»»Other Important People:
James’ closest friends are Padfoot, Wormtail and Moony, and he has a long standing obsession with Lily Evans.
”Prongs (that’s me), Padfoot, Moony and Wormtail, we make up the marauders, and I’m not lying when I say that everyone in the school knows our names…I’m the most attract – Oof, go away Sirius – what was I saying? Yeah I’m the most attractive of the lot even if Sirius refuses to accept it.”
“And then Evans…Lily Evans, well…I could be here all day describing her to you, she’s perfect, though she thinks I’m an arsehole…she’s probably right, but don’t tell her I said that.”
»»Pets:
A barn owl called Zeus.
»»History: (be as detailed as possible. three well-written paragraphs minimum)
»»Roleplay Sample:
From another site as Fred Weasley II, I’m probably a little better than this now, I tended to run on my sentences a lot.
Fred leant his head down onto Arianna’s shoulder, hugging her into him, and just staring into the fire with a bit of an unfocused expression on his face. He’d felt pretty blank recently, just like nothingness was over taking him, like he really couldn’t be happy because Mel wasn’t there. He knew he was stupid, but he just couldn’t help the way he was feeling. he blamed himself entirely, well who else could he blame, it wasn’t as if it was actually anyone elses fault, he was the one who’d made the stupid mistake of being stupidly drunk at the same time as that Slytherin girl and he was the one who’d listened to her flirting and been seduced, Mel hadn’t been involved at all, she’d had every right to be ridiculously angry with him, and break things off. He wanted to fix things though, but he didn’t think he could, she’d always have this against him, she could always use the fact that he’d cheated and he didn’t think that he could ever repay her for how awful he’d been, he couldn’t imagine how upset she had been. And here he was trying to vent anger and emotion, and he could imagine that Ari felt the same, that she felt upset and just unable to function. Seeing Mel with Jesse was incredibly hard for Fred, and he could only imagine that it was the same for Ari, just too difficult to comprehend, Fred had been avoiding Mel purely for that reason, he didn’t want to see her happy though of course she had every right to do so. It was just too hard, too difficult to imagine his life with out her, her with another, it made him want to punch Jesse Finnigan in the face ridiculously hard, and it wasn’t as if him and Jay hadn’t been friends of a sort before this, he wasn’t sure he could ever be friends with the guy again.
“I’m really sorry that I scared you.” It seemed the only way for Fred to vent his anger was to be incredibly loud and just yell and scream, and throw things at the wall, because he knew that if he allowed it to turn inward, and if he was to bottle up his feelings, he’d just do something stupid again, like get ridiculously drunk and set things on fire, or just be on his own ridiculously drunk and that was never a good thing. Fred Weasley knew he really needed to smarten up and stop getting drunk, drinking was certainly not the best for him – he always ended up doing stupid things, like at christmas he’d been stupidly drunk on christmas eve when he’d cut Mel’s hair and hurt her feelings then. Yes, he was going to have to sober up and be sensible for once if he was ever to do anything about the Mel situation, he knew she’d definitely never take him back if he was to get drunk again around her, and well he wasn’t sure she would even ever take him back, and so he was going to do everything he could to hope that she would, or at least avoid her for the rest of his Hogwarts career. Which would mean no quidditch, which would make James upset, and well Fred himself would be incredibly upset, since that was what he wanted to do after school and he didn’t have a hope in hell if he wasn’t scouted in one of the matches this year. But Fred was prepared to ruin his life in order to get out of Mel’s way, he loved her that much. “I didn’t mean to, I was just…angry.” Fred said calmly, he was shaking a bit from the anger he was feeling at himself right now.
“Mm me too.” Fred nodded, not meeting Ari’s gaze, trying to focus on the flickering flames in the grate. “You and Jesse seemed perfect for each other as well.” Fred said, “Look at the pair of us!” He said trying to be a bit light hearted, looking at the girls face, “We’re moping too much you know, we’re never going to feel better if we keep making ourselves all emotional, and angry and upset like this.” Fred felt rather wise for once in his life, but he wanted to do something about the state he was in, and if he could cheer someone else up at the same time then well he was all for it, he couldn’t bear to see her upset as well, and they might as well do something and be content for a while. Fred smiled softly as she said she hated that he understood the feeling. “We’re definitely a right pair, I mean we’ve both been missing quidditch, and just generally being idiots about this whole situation, but I suppose we can’t help it.” Fred was rambling, since he really didn’t know what else to do in this situation, “I think we need to buck up and be men, errr, well you can be a woman, and I’ll be a man, deal?” Fred tried to grin at the girl, he was trying to put a brave face on for her, to show her that it was alright, and that they could be happy if they needed to be. He squeezed her shoulder gently, hoping to give her some sort of comfort.
